Various news sources have reported an attempted mutiny in the Phillipines by soldiers claiming that the Phillipine government was corrupt. Just to drive the point home, they "seized a Manila shopping and apartment complex," but eventually "ended [the] 19-hour standoff late Sunday and returned to barracks without a shot fired." (Quotes from (SFGate News article).

Not surprising, I must admit. President Arroyo does not seem qualified to lead her country. Corruption is most likely rampant in the Phillipine government. The military even sells weapons and ammunition to terrorists for personal gain! The Phillipines needs a bit of cleaning up -- but I'm not saying I agree with the style of this mutinous uprising.
