Gettin' bigger

CRN (and a million other sites) posted that Yahoo is going to up their free mail service to 100mb, and give unlimited space to paying users.

Yup, folks, the value-size service wars are about to begin. Google starts something, then BAM! Okay...maybe competition isn't so bad after all. Somebody finally gets that the average user is getting newsletters, pictures of somebody's friend's uncle's pet lizard, spam, and poems that don't ryme from every friend and relative who knows their address, so they decide that maybe more than 2-4mb of space is a good idea. For free...too....

Could this be a trend in other sectors? Maybe ISPs and web hosting companies will start dropping prices and giving more back to the customer (PowWeb is a great example. Goodie goodie.
